Dairy Business Centre (NZ) Limited is committed to ensuring the ongoing education of those involved at all levels of the New Zealand dairy industry. This goal is being achieved through our unique and innovative dairymasters™ Programme which focuses on providing quality education and training through tertiary scholarships, customised training courses, workshops and field-days.
dairymasters™ Tertiary Scholarship Programme
As part of our commitment to building the technical and economic capacity of consultants servicing the New Zealand dairy sector, the dairymasters™ Tertiary Scholarship Programme was established in 2009 in order to encourage postgraduate research that will be of benefit to the New Zealand dairy industry and in particular the field of ruminant nutrition.
The Scholarship Programme has been developed with the assistance of Lincoln University's Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences, with funding awarded annually to students undertaking agricultural related tertiary study within New Zealand.
The Scholarship programme involves a secure four year contract comprising an initial two year period to be spent undertaking research and in-service training, which will be followed by a bonded two year commercial field work component. An annual stipend of $20,000.00, together with additional funding to cover relevant tuition fees, will assist scholarship recipients as they complete their postgraduate study at Lincoln University.
Recipients are fully supervised and supported throughout their period of study and, where possible, may undertake paid work placement on leading local dairy farms while being mentored by Dairy Business Centre (NZ) Limited.
Successful applicants must:
- Show enthusiasm to undertake on-the-job training in a variety of subjects relating to the dairy industry;

dairymasters™ Nutrition Training Courses
These innovative courses, incorporating tuition sessions, practical demonstrations and farm walks, are designed to up-skill farmers on cow nutrition, improve their understanding on the need for effective feed conversion and highlight the result these factors have on farm profitability.
Dairy farming is an industry of opportunity and challenge with a key requirement being the ability to feed dairy cows to a milk price. A dairymasters™ Nutrition Training Course combines the areas of profit-planning, cow nutrition, ration balancing, animal health, pasture management and milk production management with training in effective dairy feeding strategies.
These courses will see you progress from understanding basic animal nutrition through to balancing your own rations and learning the other processes necessary to develop a customised, profit-based feeding strategy built to ruling milk prices with the aim of improving overall farm performance and achieving sustainable, long-term business goals.
Suitable for all types of farm situations, whether grass only or supplementary feeding, farmers throughout New Zealand are finding these training courses to be an essential tool in assisting with the planning of their dairy farming futures over the long-haul with more confidence and peace of mind.
